I’m Amy Crowe, owner of Worthy. I started Worthy last year to give women sizes L/12 and up more options to shop in person at affordable prices.

Women wearing certain sizes have been made to feel like fashion is not for them, and I cannot disagree more! You are worthy of stylish options in your size. With a focus on body positivity, my mission for Worthy is to help you look and feel good. Over the past year, Worthy has grown through vendor pop ups, personal shopping appointments, and partnering with local businesses. If you’d like more information about Worthy, find me on Instagram and Facebook @worthyfigures or visit the website www.worthyfigures.com.

Summer style tips and fashion advice

Here are some tips and advice for shopping summer styles and trends in plus sizes.

Jumpsuit from Anthropologie

Jumpsuits and rompers – I’ve heard too many women say they cannot wear jumpsuits or rompers because of their size. I’m here to say you can! My advice is to size up to give the jumpsuit or romper a blouse-y look and feel. Find soft and comfortable fabrics that are great for moving and beating the heat this summer. If you don’t feel quite ready to wear a jumpsuit or romper yet, the high-low maxi dress is trending this summer too.

Summer prints – An easy way to bring summer’s trends to your plus size look is by incorporating hot prints. Majorly trending this summer are gingham, flamingos, pineapples, succulents, tropical prints and fruits. They’re popular not only because they’re cute, but they just embody the summer vibe.

Want to take these trendy prints to the office? Here’s some tips on including these fun prints at work:

  • Wear a classic silhouette with a trendy print. Classic A-line dresses or pencil skirts are a great way to do this.
  • Pair the prints with neutral cardigans and shoes.
  • Add a professional bag to pull the look together.

Swimwear – Swimsuit does not have to be a four-letter-word in your vocabulary. I’m obsessed with high-waist two pieces. They’re great for coverage and comfort but still let you show some skin. If you’re large chested, I suggest shopping by bra/cup size. If you’re going to purchase online, a good tip is to go somewhere and get a professional bra fitting. That way, you can use your measurements to shop online easier. Swimsuits For All is my favorite plus size website for swimwear, and I like to carry their suits for Worthy.

Confidence – The greatest part about any outfit is you. I want so badly for every woman to feel confident in wearing whatever she wants. You don’t have to hide in your clothes or feel that certain looks aren’t for you. You are worthy of it all!

Places & brands to shop

Of course, Worthy has many of summer’s best styles. We carry Eloquii, Boohoo, Asos Curve, ModCloth and many more fashionable plus size brands. By carrying these brands that are only available online in the Charlotte area, you can now try them on in person through a scheduled shopping appointment or at a vendor event. It can eliminate the frustration of ordering online, not fitting, and having to return. If you’re feeling lost when it comes to what to shop for your body, Worthy also offers personal shopping and styling services.

Nordstrom also has great plus size brands. City Chic, Tart, Standards and Practices, and Eliza J are some of my favorites that they carry. City Chic is great because it fits most true to size. Just keep in mind their sizing is a little different, so just make sure to find the right fit for you! Tart really has the boho vibe going, which I love. Who doesn’t love a good tassel? Standards & Practices has a lot of denim selections, but this red jumpsuit is amazing. Eliza J carries classic  and feminine dresses with a trendy twist. There sizes run true to size too. Nordstrom also offers personal stylists!
