What to wear to the Truist Championship golf tournament, according to a personal stylist

by Brianna Crane | April 14, 2026

The Truist Championship, one of the most social weekends of the year in Charlotte, is almost here. Now’s the time to plan your outfit (or outfits!) so you can head into the tournament prepped and relaxed.

What to consider: People undeniably dress for this event, but the ideal tournament look balances personal style with practicality.

  • You’ll definitely get your steps in for the day, and there’s minimal shade if you have grounds passes. Dress accordingly!

Strategy: I asked personal stylist Brittany Noble Newcomb to help compile some looks for the tournament.

  • We met at SouthPark Mall so we could show you a range of styles, without having to drive all around town!
  •  From sporty separates to Palm Beach-inspired maxis we pulled looks from Lilly Pulitzer, Anthropologie and Dillards.

Here’s a look at what we found.

The new Lily Pulitzer store at SouthPark Mall is worth a stop in its own right. They really leaned into the Palm Beach of it all, and you can too with their iconic prints and breezy silhouettes.

Button down maxi dresses were everywhere. Brittany made it her own by keeping the bottom half unbuttoned and adding a fun pop with this skirt. It’s one way to stay cool, and make a plain dress more festive.
We both loved this blue maxi—it’s versatile and bold. You could pair it with a belt bag and simple sandals to make it tournament-appropriate. I would do a little straw bucket hat, too.

Anthropologie has a ton of activewear and sports-adjacent clothing right now that would be great to layer in.

This jacket would be great if the weather calls for it! Pair it with a lacey skirt or dress to balance the sweetness. Oh, and always add a fun sock!
We both almost went home with this top. Wear it with a little short and cardigan for a casual but cute day on the course. This color combo is 🤩
These little dresses are great with a sneaker for a super easy look, especially if it’s super warm.

Dillards is so underrated. We didn’t plan it this way, but ended up pulling four or five matching sets.

You can’t go wrong with green gingham or this all white number. Add a hat for some extra shade!
If you’re not comfortable in a short, this butter yellow set would be fantastic. They have a few other pastel colorways, too. Again, a straw bucket hat and simple sneakers or flats would be so chic!
Dillards also has a solid shoe department. You’re going to want something simple and flat. I like this style – it keeps your feet cool but you’re not as exposed as a flip flip or sandal.
