Special Event Shopping for the Ageless Woman

Guest Blog by Jan Correll of Silver is the New Blonde, a Charlotte-area fashion/lifestyle blogger for the mid-life, ageless woman. Jan believes that fashion should be authentic, chic and fun; no matter what your age is.

As a fashion blogger, I recently had two readers reach out to me and ask for advice on dressing for two very special times in a woman’s life; a wedding day and the wedding day of a son/daughter.  Luckily, I have had the experience of all three.  Married for 43 years, this summer and the mother of a 35-year-old son and a 33-year-old daughter, each married 7 to 9 years ago.   I remember the time fondly and know how important it is to look just right on this precious day.  Therefore, the timing was perfect to write about a recent visit to Paul Simon Women to search for special occasion wear: a MOB/Mother of the Bride and MOG/Mother of the Groom dress for my friend.

As I walked under the arches toward the store, I was feeling excited but anxious about helping my friend (from afar) with ideas.  But the minute I walked into the store, I felt right at home.  The wonderful staff was so welcoming and I immediately noticed that each customer was provided specialized one on one service. And the best part was the beautiful, high quality and classic clothing.   I had to browse the complete store first to see all the different lines, as I made my way to the evening and formal wear towards the back.  Where I was wowed again, by the selection of evening attire and formal dresses available in a variety of colors.
Paul Simon Women offers a number of lines to choose from including Teri Jon, Marisa Baratelli and Frasacra, and  Julie Voss and Lafayette 148.  They are also in the process of expanding their formal event department, including dresses from Shoshanna (arriving soon.)
I have put together 5 different looks for a MOB or MOG but feel they could be used for a number of different events or special occasions.
