So, from the time they are six through some point in high school, the conversations about “appropriate party attire” just circle around endlessly. What starts out as a cute discussion about whether one should wear a recital outfit or princess pj’s to “school” quickly devolves into why 4 inch heels just won’t work as you walk across the stage, your hemline can’t skim your panties, and wearing a Herve Leger bandage dress knock-off to the middle school dance won’t fly, at least not with anyone out of puberty.
Not to mention the concept of what is appropriate to SPEND on a dress that won’t fit in 6 months – half the time you are so relieved to have found something you both finally love, with shoes she can walk in – and then take off the minute she enters the dance – you are willing to go way beyond your “limit.” Sigh.
