Your Happy Valentine’s Anti-Aging Chocolate Berry Smoothie

I’m afraid of many things- heights, roller coasters, bungee jumping, clowns…

But aging doesn’t scare me one little bit.

And why should it? There are many benefits to growing older, such as a stronger sense of self, friendships that have cultivated throughout the years, and hopefully more wisdom and life experience. Plus, every passing decade further removes me from my horrific dating past and poor fashion choices.

Even though I am fully prepared to embrace the aging process, I am not ashamed to admit that I’d like to enter my golden years with as few wrinkles as possible.

Obviously, there are many cosmetic options (ranging from subtle to Joan Rivers), but there are some natural ways to fight the aging process as well. My personal favorite is through a healthy diet.

I concocted a smoothie that is just loaded with all sorts of wrinkle fighting agents. The bonus is that it is absolutely creamy and delicious.

Anti-Aging Chocolate Berry Smoothie

(Serves 1)

Ingredients:

1 cup of unsweetened almond milk

1 cup of blueberries (fresh or frozen)

1 tablespoon of cacao powder

1/4 of an avocado

2 cups of raw spinach

1 teaspoon of chia seeds

3-4 ice cubes

Stevia (or natural sweetener of choice), to taste

Directions:

Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth.  Serve cold.

This smoothie delivers lots of vitamins, healthy fats, and antioxidants which help to keep our skin moisturized, healthy, smooth, and plump (in a good way).

So drink up at least 3 times a week, and you’ll be well on your way to aging gracefully!
