First up: LadyBird opens Sunday in the former Lebowski’s space on East Boulevard (1524 East Blvd). The Nashville-based chain specializes in breakfast and lunch tacos, inspired by the famed Austin taco scene.
- Expect house-made tortillas, queso, salsa, and salads and full coffee/espresso service, in partnership with HEX Coffee. Yum.
- They’ll be open 6:30am-4pm daily.
Watch this space: El Turo Bruto has been popping up all over the city the last six weeks, all announced through their Instagram.
- El Turo started as a food truck, and eventually found a home inside Resident Culture South End. They left the space and partnered with HEX in 2024, before disappearing from the food scene.
I haven’t seen anything to indicate El Toro is looking for a more permanent spot but I’ve learned one thing over the years: don’t count chef Hector Gonzalez-Mora out.
- Afterall, he just won Michelin’s 2026 American South Young Chef Award.
