The latest Scoop survey shows 30% of Charlotte women spend $2.5K-$5K on beauty each year.
- Even a low-maintenance routine with haircuts, basic skincare and a little makeup add up to $1K a year—which many people are content with.
- Meanwhile, some big-spenders wish they could budget even more for beauty.
Survey says:
Under $1K: “In my 50s and stopped Botox completely. Started to hate the look of it and I’ve come to terms with my wrinkles. I just use tretinoin and a regular skincare routine. Get my hair cut every 3 mos and color it at home. No time for hours long salon appointments. I’d rather spend the money traveling!”
- “I’m probably in the minority in Charlotte in that I don’t spend much. I don’t color my hair, get cuts 4x/year, don’t have any injectables, and get a professional manicure and pedicure probably 1x/year. My one non-negotiable is brow waxing and tinting every 6 weeks. That is my high maintenance to be low maintenance “thing”
- “I am almost 50 and never had Botox or laser treatments although I think the laser could be a good idea, only had a handful of facials so admittedly I could do more at my age I just wish it wasn’t all so expensive! ”
$2.5K-$5K: “If you average it out: hair, highlights, cut and style $250 per quarter, Botox $650 bi-annually, laser hair removal or facial laser tx $1,500 average cost and face regimen (facewash, moisturizer, eye tx etc) $800 bi-annually. Massages get tossed in at $250-300 including tip pending location. This doesn’t count hair care or makeup so maybe I should rethink my average.”
- “I spend money on tweakments. Botox, a tiny bit of filler, laser treatment, etc. Also on products that will improve the condition of my skin.”
$5K-$7.5K: “Splurges: quarterly Hydrafacial and Botox, hair color/trim every 6 weeks, biweekly mani/pedis Saves: I buy relatively inexpensive skin, makeup and hair products but use them consistently for good results. This doesn’t even include massages, red light therapy, lymphatic therapy!”
- “Garbage in, garbage out. The older I get, the more I realize quality products and services for my hair/skin is worth it. I’ve seen the difference and would never go back.”
- “Most expensive purchases are monthly facials at Toccare. Otherwise: (1) Dysport (minimal) every 6 months, (2) cut and highlights every 3 months, and (3) good quality skincare, haircare, and makeup products.”
$7.5K+: “Hair color every 3 weeks, nails twice monthly, medical grade skin care and procedures add up to a LOT!!! I probably spend 10k a year!”
Fact check: These responses tell me our math is likely off—possibly by thousands a year, depending on what “counts” for beauty.
