Step inside this Charlotte boutique owner’s personal Elizabeth home

by Brianna Crane | May 22, 2026

Eloise Hamilton Reeve’s Elizabeth bungalow is an earnest reflection of her personal style, which you might be acquainted with via her boutique Thirty-One Jane.

  • It’s casual and cool, sharp and stylish. There’s a pragmatic NYC edge that keeps Eloise’s relaxed Southern style from ever being saccharine.

Quick recap: Eloise and her husband bought the house in 2021.They worked with MK Boykin at Smith Interior Design to slowly make changes over time, as they’ve gotten to know the quirks of a century-old home.

  • All 2,700 square feet have been smartly reworked to perfectly support their lifestyle—two working parents with a toddler, a high-energy dog and baby on the way.

The updates: They’ve refreshed bathrooms, converted one long room into two bedrooms and swapped out finishes to suit their personal style.

  • Most recently, they knocked out the first-floor guest room to create a dining room with a showstopping built-in bar.
  • It flows naturally from the kitchen and sitting room, creating an ideal setup for hosting.

Style: “We wanted our home to feel effortlessly beautiful and livable,” Eloise tells Scoop.

  • “I think we’ve achieved that by mixing high and low pieces, blending old with new, and choosing practical elements like performance fabrics and easy-to-clean rugs that still feel elevated and stylish.”

Most treasured item: “My great grandmother’s armoire that’s in my daughter’s room!”

  • It currently stores all of Eloise’s old Madame Alexander dolls and tea sets.
  • “It makes me so happy that it’s been passed down through generations and is now a part of her space,” Eloise says.
