At a certain age, it seems like every single person you know is getting married (or their children are getting married, if you are at that certain age), and you can count on seeing lots of the same friends at the various ceremonies, so it’s hard to recycle the outfits.

Plus, the task of what to wear to a summer wedding is a tricky one. You are dressing for the hot weather but need to keep your style “event appropriate” — it’s a wedding, after all, not a nightclub. Many in the ‘mom’ and older generations adhere to the no-white-except-the-bride rule, and the no-bare-shoulders-in-the-church rule. A light shawl is the perfect summer wedding accessory.
