Thanksgiving for many is about the 3 F’s: Food, Family and Football.
For me, it’s all about the table, the buffet and the sideboard.

You know by now that I care at least as much about the trimmings as I do the food for any holiday celebration. And by trimmings I mean What To Wear and Decorating the House.

Enter my standby tabletop solution for any festive holiday party. A wreath, planter box or tray from Target stuffed with greens & random garden pickings along with some seasonal produce from the Whole Foods or the Teeter. And a candle or ten.

Sometimes, if it’s a big group, three little wreaths down the length, staggered with said garden stuffs and nuts & fruits or squash. And the candles. Sometimes, I go all out and match it up with the companion “trees” Target sells for some wreaths, and sometimes I pot flowers or ivy or boxwoods from the nursery, which I plant after the holidays in early March.

Sometimes, before I started scoop, I forced miniature bulbs in pots in the garage fridge and had them bloom in time for the holidays. Yep.  Now you know why I started this blog.

Here are a couple of inspirational blogger photos to get you thinking about how pretty this could look, like in someone else’s home who is much more energetic and talented than I.

I found these plaid wool throws, scarves and pillows in the FARIBAULT FOR TARGET collection online right now, so you can re-create this warm, cozy fall look on your own.

And here are my picks from TARGET online for wreaths & things that will work as the centerpiece now, and for other use later.

Finally, for the kids’ table, how about a wreath of holiday buns?  Just tell them they can have it after grace is spoken.
