Moxie, the women’s creative clubhouse we’ve been talking about for months, has changed its name to The Florence.
- The transition to The Florence follows a trademark dispute involving the former name.
- Founder Margaret Cheatham (MC) Williams and her team made the decision to move forward and turn their focus toward the future, per a press release.
They’re not alone: There have been a slew of local brands that have had to change their names before they even open. It’s an expensive process some new business owners are opening up about.
What’s in a name: For MC, the name change is sort of symbolic of what she hopes The Florence will be.
“We are all graced with seasons of building and seasons of beginning again—seasons
when our careers accelerate and seasons when our priorities shift,” she says.
- “We become founders, mothers, leaders, caregivers, mentors, friends, empty nesters, entrepreneurs, and versions of ourselves we could not have imagined. In fact, we never stop becoming.”
Progress check: The Florence is slated to soft open summer 2027. And they’ve updated their membership options—The House, The Salon and The Signature.
- The House is a social and community membership, offering access to the ground-floor café and programming.
- The Salon offers a blended work and social membership.
- The Signature is The Florence’s highest tier, a professional membership for those looking to use the space as their primary coworking destination.
- Pricing will be shared once applications go live.
The vision: When it opens, the club will offer coworking, a café and market, wellness, curated programming, retail and spaces to gather, work, rest and play.
- The goal is not simply to create a place to spend time, but a place that moves your life forward, MC shares.
