SCOOP LABS

9 in 10 adults don’t feel great about social media

by Brianna Crane | September 3, 2026

The majority of people say social media isn’t all good or all bad, per the latest Scoop Labs poll.

What’s really interesting: Less than 11% of people say social media makes them feel good most of the time.

  • It seems to have diminishing returns, even if the first few swipes, clicks and scrolls feel good.

Observations: I was at dinner a couple of weeks ago, and found out two of the six people at the table had recently gone completely social media free.

  • I personally delete TikTok on weekdays to keep mindless scrolling to a minimum.
  • Many of my friends use Brick to enforce time limits.

Audience says:

  • “I got off of social media in 2016 and never looked back.”
  • “It’s definitely a time suck, and I struggle with the self discipline to get off of it! The only way I can prevent that is by not getting on in the first place.”
  • “Depending on the posts, it can be good and bad. I love keeping up with friends and family’ s activities. Also, I have to remind myself that social media is a snapshot in time and doesn’t accurately display reality.”
  • “I try to stay off it, but still waste way too much time on it.”

The point: How we spend our time matters. Take a peek at that screen time and audit your energy, my friends.
