See inside: NOVEL Davidson, a new luxury community with a twist

by Brianna Crane | June 16, 2026

NOVEL Davidson reads more like a designer showhouse than an apartment community. And that’s on purpose.

Quick backstory: “We recognized upfront that many of our future residents would be downsizing from their longtime home and living in an apartment for the first time ever so we designed select units to appeal to this niche renter,” Katie Maloomian, Sr. Director of Development shared.

  • BB+M and architecture firm, Cline Design and Katie Maloomian brought this project to life with intentionality apparent in every detail.

Design: NOVEL Davidson’s apartment homes are collected, not decorated; residential, not rental.

  • Think: Entry halls, scullery-inspired pantries, arched cased openings, abundant natural light, oversized closets, large kitchens for hosting, built-in mud benches, spaces to work from home.

Amenities: Furniture and art for the shared community spaces were sourced locally when possible. NOVEL tapped Coley Home, SouthEnd Exchange, House of Harris, Milagro Collective, Art House and Shain Gallery for the job.

  • They also have a Resident Moke — a reservable electric buggy that is perfect for a stylish ride into and around town.

Great Room: This space serves as the lounge and centerpiece of the community. With comfortable seating, working spaces, views of the outdoor patio, and framed access to the community kitchenette, the room features vibrant floral wallpaper, woven clamshell pendants and a custom marble island with turned legs crafted locally by James Dixon Millwork.

  • The piece embodies the quality and craftsmanship found in many of Davidson’s historic homes and serves as a true focal point of the space.

Library: The library nook adjacent to the kitchenette is a cozy space to read or do a puzzle. Every room has a fun element, including a functional antique porthole connecting the space to the adjacent mailroom.

Billiards and beyond: The upper level of the community room features a herringbone patterned floor, game tables, billiards and work from home nooks with finishes you would find in the study of a designer home—like the Philip Jeffries dark plaid wall covering and stained wood trim.

Pool: The pool is Veranda magazine-worthy with scalloped pale-blue umbrellas, pink-and-white striped chaises, pergola pool house, dramatic botanical mural and landscape reminiscent of an English garden complete with a cute little birdbath.

Ultimately: NOVEL Davidson is the result of intentional design, thoughtful storytelling and a commitment to small details.
