Scoop Labs (™) recently conducted a short one-question survey with a simple question:
- How often are you intimate with your partner?
The big why: Most of us are too embarrassed or shy to talk about it, but intimacy matters. And every now and then, we’re going to approach taboo topics in a digestible/anonymous way.
Results: The overwhelming majority of people in our community are having sex between 1-5 times a week, Scoop Labs (™) research reveals.
- Both ends of the extreme are equally common, however. Roughly 6% of respondents have sex every day and another 6% haven’t had sex in the last year, or more.
Specific responses to note:
“2 times. 5 is WAY too much!!”
“Used to be more frequent, but seems as if time goes by and the connection lessens.”
“Married 42 years and am not in love with my husband anymore..too much lying, deceiving not in extra marital affairs but just in general – he cannot tell the truth. So I have a wonderful lover and am the happiest I have ever been!”
Satisfaction score: Data show that 64% of adults ages 40-74 believe intimacy is part of overall satisfaction in life, but only 38% are actually satisfied with their sex lives.
- Embarrassment is one of the top reasons people aren’t talking about it with their partners, or doctors.
Research shows: The spark doesn’t have to die with age. In fact, a large share of older adults are staying active and open-minded, according to the New York Times.
- Interestingly, we ran a Novant Health ad about testosterone’s role in energy, mood and drive—it was one of our top-performers last month.
Conclusion: Whatever you have going on is totally normal. And however you feel about that is normal, too.
