That’s right, Salmon DNA is Toccare’s newest secret weapon. It’s available as an add-on to their signature microneedling treatment.
I have incredibly sensitive skin, so I thought this could be my chance to try one of their more advanced treatments—call it investigative journalism!
My typical skin: My skin is mostly clear, prone to redness, and leans slightly dry this time of year. I have a very simple skincare routine (oil cleanser, retinol, moisturizer, SPF) and get a basic Toccare facial 2-4 times a year to help keep things clear and glowy.
- What I wanted: To soften my new forehead wrinkle and small lines around my eyes and reduce some redness in my cheeks, without injectables (for now!).
Why the Salmon: The Toccare team has been testing this treatment for a while, and they’ve noticed the enhancement delivers results similar to receiving multiple rounds of microneedling. You are red after microneedling for about 48 hours on average, so I was intrigued by the possibility of fewer sessions.
- The quick science: DNA fragments are extracted from Korean wild salmon. When applied into the skin, it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which leads to improved skin texture, reduced wrinkles, and overall skin renewal, per Toccare.
The treatment: To start your session, they numb your skin. While that takes effect, your esthetician gives you an upper body massage. Because of the numbing, I did not find the actual microneedling to be painful at all. The salmon DNA is essentially pressed into your pores during the treatment.
- You’ll end your session with a little LED Light Therapy and an Oxygen Dome to help calm inflammation before you walk out the door.
- Their signature microneedling experience is $395, and the treatment with salmon DNA is $595.
- Depending on your goals/current skin, multiple rounds are typically recommended.
Here’s an up-close-and-personal look at my progress over 24 hours!
This is two hours after treatment. You can see the redness in (almost) full effect, but believe it or not, it doesn’t hurt here. By bedtime, my skin was feeling tighter and a little itchier, but no heat or discomfort. Some people experience a bit of a sunburn-like discomfort but I did not!

This is the next morning, after using the three-step Epicutus routine they sent me home with. I went out in public like this! The redness basically disappeared by the end of the day, leaving a little bit of texture and dryness. I was shocked given how slow-healing and red my skin can be.
