When I got this email from Park Road Books, I knew I had to do a quick share of it for you all ’cause it was full of fun, local book and book clubs news – if you don’t subscribe, highly recommend you do so here, as I can’t promise to always do a share for you 🙂
First Up, the Greater Charlotte Book Crawl
The independent bookstores of the greater Charlotte area just announced the return of the Greater Charlotte Book Crawl, now in its 4th year. Beginning April 1, bookstore lovers can pick up Greater Charlotte Book Crawl (GCBC) passports at any of the twenty-two participating bookstores. Each visit to one of the bookstores during the month of April earns the crawler a new stamp – no purchase necessary. The ultimate goal is to visit all twenty-two stores, from Salisbury to Rock Hill, Belmont and Mt Holly to Concord, before the GCBC ends on April 30, 2024.
Each “Finisher” will earn prizes: one for completing seven stores, one for completing fourteen, and one completed passport. Simply show the passport at any participating bookstore. Finishers can also submit a photo of their completed passport to be entered in a drawing for a grand prize.

PRB Book Clubs to Join
If you’ve been looking for a book club to join, or just looking to make some new acquaintances who like to read, it’s time to check out any one of Park Road Books book clubs:
- The Banned Books Club just met at Park Road Books April 1, 2025, at 6:30 pm. They have been reading the Howl by Allen Ginsberg. Subscribe so you don’t miss the next one if this one appeals to you.
- The Geek Book Club is reading Upgrade by Blake Crouch and will meet Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 7 pm. The book club will meet virtually. Please see website for registration details.
- The DeMinted Book Club will be reading Thunderclap by Laura Cummings and will meet at Park Road Books Tuesday, April 15, 2025, 6:30 pm.
- The topic for this month’s Reading Challenge Book Club is read a book of poetry, Love That Dog by Sharon Creech. The book club meets virtually and this month will meet on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 7:15 pm. You can register HERE.
- The Foodie Book Club will be reading the Shooting at Chateau Rock by Martin Walker. They will meet at the store on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 7 pm.
The book clubs are open to everyone. Books purchased for registered book clubs are 20% off.
Register Your Own Book Club
Park Road Books offers a 20% discount to Book Clubs on their yearly selections when they register with Park Road Books. To register your book club, just do the following:
- Sign up by requesting an enrollment form and dropping it off at the store, along with the reading list if you have one.
- You can send your selections via email to bookclubs@parkroadbooks.com with Book Club picks in the subject line. Include the Book Club’s name and a contact person’s email address or phone number with reading list. To ensure your discount be sure to email or drop off your book club’s reading selections at least one month in advance of when members will first start reading the book.
- The store will always order the paperback if it is available. If a book is not yet published or out of print, we will let you know as soon as possible. Because these are special orders please ask at the front counter for your Book Club selection.
Please note:
- Groups of 4 or more with regularly scheduled discussions are considered a book club.
- Club members must identify themselves at checkout to get this discount. Only members of the registered Book Clubs will be eligible for the discount.
- Discount will be discontinued at the end of that book’s discussion month.
