From Skin Cycling to Strawberry Glazed Makeup, we are here for channeling our inner Hailey Bieber. Whether you are looking to expand your beauty regimen, or step outside of your comfort zone and try something new, we have you covered with a variety of options. We hope you go viral with these 10 TikTok Beauty Trends.
1. Skin Cycling
Skin Cycling may be a trend now, but we foresee this turning into a lifestyle for many. Dermatologists, such as Dr. Adel, took to social media to give Skin Cycling their stamp of approval, and we have to agree. When using strong, sometimes harsh – but beneficial – ingredients like retinol and exfoliating products, it is important to use a method that prevents skin irritation.
Skin Cycling consists of rotating through these products every few days, and applying barrier protective products in between to prevent irritation. If you are using a retinol, and your skin seems to be irritated, dry, or sometimes even painful, Skin Cycling may be the solution your skin has been searching for. You can try implementing this into your routine by following the below method.
Day 1: Use an exfoliating acid on your skin as normal, to address skin concerns such as dullness, skin texture, or clogged pores. Day 2: Use a retinol as prescribed by your dermatologist, or a lower strength over-the-counter option. Days 3-4: These days serve as your recovery days, allowing your skin the time it needs to rebuild it's barrier. On these days you can reach for soothing products such as moisturizers, light serums, and even products like Vaseline or Aquaphor.
For a local expert’s opinion, we reached out to Dr. Elizabeth Rostan at Charlotte Skin & Laser for her take on this trendy skincare routine:
From a clinical perspective, skin cycling really doesn’t do much other than to create a social media sensation.
I prefer a more regular routine that is easier to remember and follow: Aim for retinol every night or every other night – but consistent use – and exfoliate no more than once a week ~ less if your skin feels soft and subtle. Retinol and glycolic acids will take care of natural exfoliation without the need for harsh scrubs and potential damage.

2. NOTOX

We all know about Botox and its popularity in the beauty industry, but now people are spreading the word of Notox – it’s as simple as it sounds – No Botox. Notox is about exploring products, lifestyle, or methods that yield the same effect as Botox, without the needles. Whether you are tapping into your holistic side, are afraid of needles, or simply do not want to shell out the money, these alternatives may be worth exploring.
Shannon(left) is seen using silicone patches, which if used consistently, are reported to result in wrinkle-erasing for many people. Many others take to serums, moisturizers, retinols, and more to achieve their youthful glow effect. Jenna(right) is seen using her holy grail Botox alternative, the Clearstem Bounce Back serum. We love to see this variety of options and alternatives, because we know beauty is not a one size fits all market. Besides… Who doesn’t want to be forever young?
3. The Mary Phillips Technique
Mary Phillips is a celebrity makeup artist, who often glams icons such as Hailey Bieber and Dua Lipa. She uses a unique method to apply makeup, which thanks to TikTok has now been coined The Mary Phillips Technique. This technique is complexion focused, and is truly all about that base. She describes it as laying down the bones, and then the skin comes second. Why haven’t we been doing this all along?
Traditionally, we apply our makeup in the following order: Base or Foundation, THEN Concealer and Contour. Mary essentially flips this method on its head and does the complete opposite. She starts with her favorite Concealer and Contour to “lay down the bones”, and then goes in with her go-to foundation as her “skin”. This yields a flawless result and gives that beautifully sculpted, yet natural finish we all need in our lives. Next time you go to do your everyday look, you have to try this cult-favorite complexion hack.
4. The Bob Is Back
Listen, we love some long locks as much as the next person, but when we get the chance to embrace a good bob hair-cut, we simply cannot pass on that. According to the For You Page, short hair is IN, and we are giving this our full approval. This trend is not limited to the classic short bob we all had as a kid, but also includes the “Lob” – the long bob. If you have been looking for a sign to cut those ends off your hair, we dare you to take it a step further.
5. K-Beauty
If we can all agree on one thing, it has to be our obsession with this Glass Skin look that has come into trend in recent years. I mean… Can we even put it into words? We have found a common thread in people who have achieved the beautiful Glass Skin look, and it lies in the products they use. The one thing a lot of these products have in common is that they are Korean skincare products, also known as K-beauty. If your goal is to look beautifully glazed, we recommend you join in on this one.
K-beauty has taken TikTok by STORM, and we are fully invested. These products are created to address all different skin types and concerns, so everyone can be included. There is many products and brands to choose from, as beauty is an extremely large industry in Korea. We recommend searching on TikTok for Korean skincare for your skin type, and going from there. Did we also mention most of these popular Korean skincare products are very affordable?
6. Strawberry Glazed Makeup
Thanks to the generation that is Social Media obsessed, we now have coined terms for everything that were once a simple concept. Makeup looks that give the slightly sun-burnt, pop of pink effect are now called Strawberry Glazed… But hey, we love tapping into our creative imagination. It could be speculated that just like most trends, Hailey Bieber also started this one.
Hailey Bieber’s skincare line, Rhode, has just launched a limited edition collaboration with Krispy Kreme, releasing their new Strawberry Glazed Donut Peptide Lip Treatment with the return of the Strawberry Glazed Donut at Krispy Kreme; the duo we never knew we needed. If you were all in on the Barbiecore trend, you would be the perfect match for Strawberry Glazed Makeup. Besides, we needed a reason to keep the pink vibes going.
7. Russian Manicure
Russian Manicures are all about the details, precision, and the lack of cuticles. Just look at the results of this manicure technique- It is no surprise that this is another viral beauty tip. In a Russian manicure, the nail technician goes as low as possible on the cuticle, filing at the skin, and trimming all of the excess to yield a flawless result. It is painless, and said to last you much longer than a regular manicure. Not all salons offer this service, but we recommend finding one in your area that does, and giving this a shot. Once you start, we are sure you will be hooked.
8. Clean Beauty
If there is one thing I love about living on an ever-evolving planet, it is that I can now easily replace all of my products with clean, non-toxic options. Now that this is such a popular concept, more and more Clean brands and products are created everyday, making it easy to switch. There are high end options, and affordable options.
Many people have switched to non-toxic household products such as multi-purpose cleaning spray, dish soap, and laundry detergent. Did you know the ingredients in your beauty products can be just as toxic for your health? If you ever catch us standing in Sephora while on TikTok watching “Non Toxic Makeup Recommendations”, well, yeah that sounds about right. Creators have shared many alternatives that making shopping for your everyday swaps so easy, and makeup brands like Ilia, Saie, and Kosas have made the experience seamless. You never know what is hiding in your products, but we recommend at least looking into it.
9. Brown Mascara
For years we’ve been told to go with the blackest mascara we can find, even for daytime. While this full-on glam lash treatment certainly makes your eyes stand out, sometimes and for some of us, it has just felt too ‘made-up’ or too showy. Either way, brown mascara could give you the fix you are looking for. If you are a no-mascara girl, if you want a more natural look, or if your natural brows, hair and lashes are lighter, brown mascara could be for you.
Many people on TikTok are recommending the YSL Lash Clash mascara to take the brown mascara trend to its full effect. It has a large, fluffy applicator, and spreads the pigment evenly and effectively.
10. Slick Back Bun

As we all know, the “Clean Girl Aesthetic” has been everything lately, and the slick-back bun has been the go-to hairstyle of all the clean girls. Everyone’s favorite icon of 2023 was kind enough to show us how she achieves the ultimate slick-back bun look on her TikTok account recently. Sofia Richie Grainge… Thank you for your service.
We all have those days where we desperately need to wash our hair, but the time and energy just is not there. The slick-back bun has been there for us through thick and thin, and we hope it never goes out of style. Sofia shared in her tutorial that she likes to habit stack while doing her sleek hairstyle, by using a hair mask or treatment while it is in this style. This is the perfect idea for those that are trying to show their hair some extra TLC. When you are done showing off your stunning, sleek bun, simply rinse the mask and proceed with washing your hair as usual. A gorgeous, quick hair-style and a hair treatment at the same time? Oh, we are so in.
