New CLT Store Openings to Know About

Opening next week in Belmont, if you live in that area, brick & mortar store Summer Blaise Interiors

Now open online, Movement Official, a woman and minority-owned sustainable swimwear company based in Charlotte.

Ellie Quach has created a sustainable, luxurious, stylish, and contemporary women’s swimwear line with the goal of creating products that are desirable, yet obtainable. Movement Official (mvmtofficial.com) also donates 10% of every sale to an environmental non-profit organization – the Foundation for Climate Control. “By wearing Movement, our customers are contributing in creating a more sustainable environment,” says Ellie.

Two Myers Park moms have launched a Sleepwear line online called Beverly Drive.

Building careers, working long hours and raising young children left Leigh Rogers and Mallory Zvara feeling depleted at the end of the day. They created Beverly Drive because they wanted something to help them feel beautiful, feminine and restored, and they want to share that with you. Adorable nightgowns and shorts sets.

Athleta addes sizes

New to see and shop in stores and online, ATHLETA has added extended sizes to their assortment, expanding its activewear assortment to fit more customers. Per morningbrew.com Athleta’s extended sizes will be sold in store and the products in the expanded size range won’t be merchandised in a separate “plus” section.

  • 70% of Athleta’s spring collection will be offered in extended sizing (1X–3X), a range that’ll increase from 350+ products now to 500+ by March.
  • All product categories will include extended sizes by 2022.

Final note: Belk has announced plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, seeking to recapitalize, restructure and cut debt by $450 million.

Over the past decade, we’ve had our fingers crossed as Belk struggled to find its identity & niche in between high end luxury and low priced bargain store, was very late to online sales and digital marketing, and basically had a brick & mortar meltdown. So so many readers of scoop are Belk alumni, as shoppers and as employees, we will keep our fingers crossed for a successful reemergence. There’s just got to be a way forward for a department store to be somewhere in the middle of Neiman Marcus and Marshall’s!
