Saturday, March 21st from 4pm – 9pm, head to BB&T Ballpark for a day of fitness and fun benefiting The Quiet Clot.

The first annual Pulse & Flow Fit Fest is the fulfilled vision of Allison Birkmeyer, a bi-lateral Pulmonary Embolism survivor and Founder of The Quiet Clot®, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to increase blood clot awareness, prevention, educate on recovery and offer support for all people.

“On May 27th, 2018 my life changed unexpectedly as I went from being unable to breathe while casually walking to being rushed to the ICU where they discovered blood clots throughout both lungs, a quarter sized clot to the right of my heart and a 3” clot in my right calf.  Doctors, stunned by the fact that I’d shown no traditional symptoms, told me I should not be alive.  They said my healthy lifestyle and the cardiovascular strength gained from regularly working out SAVED MY LIFE” ~ Allison Birkmeyer, Founder

BK Pilates CLT is a boutique pilates studio founded in New York. Located in one of South Ends newest buildings, The RailYard, BK Pilates has opened up its doors in Queen City on a temporary basis until they move to their forever home in town. BK, standing for Be Kind to your body, is a mantra they believe in and stand by everyday for everyBODY. BK provides customized exercise routines that help clients develop the essential mind-body connection, define the body, establish core strength, achieve greater flexibility, and improve posture.

Pilates is a physical fitness system, also known as “contrology”, developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. The benefits of Pilates include a body conditioning routine that builds flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It places an emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance.

Pilates’ system allows different exercises to be modified in range of difficulties, from beginner to advanced levels. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. BK classes include routines on the popular reformer machine.
