It’s hard enough to get time on the calendar much less figure out where to go. This summer, scoop is covering off your lunch dates by the ‘hood so bookmark this list. We start in SOUTHPARK.

Whether you’re looking to sneak away from the office or choosing the perfect place to catch up with a girlfriend, SouthPark has plenty of great options for lunch. Our top picks:


While they may not have made it into your regular rotation just yet, give these new-ish spots for your next lunch out:

Bar Marcel
3920 Sharon Road, Suite 160 (Morrison at SouthPark)

Just opened in the Morrison Shops, (the Earthfare Shopping Center) Bar Marcel’s Executive Chef Josh Oakley offers a refreshing spring melon gazpacho, zucchini vermicelli and a variety of salads. View the full menu here.

Pink Cactus
4423 Sharon Rd.

We have our eyes on the strawberry avocado salad, although mid-day tacos may make the workday go by faster! Their patio is also the perfect spot to escape the office A/C and soak up some sun. Scoop tip: easy parking on site!

Legion Brewing
5610 Carnegie Blvd.

You’ll want to try this one with a group! Grab co-workers or girlfriends and split the larger-than-life pretzel and the SouthPark dip platter. Wood oven-baked pizzas and the grilled Carolina trout are also perfect lunch options.

While Legion does attract a loyal lunch crowd, if you’re not part of a large group you should be fine without a reservation. There’s also easy parking right behind the restaurant in the parking deck. Scoop tip: order a Carolina sparkle party for a mid-day alcoholic pick-me up.

SouthPark Eats Alternative

Come to SouthPark for the only gathering of food trucks in the area. Every Wednesday, a variety of food trucks from around Charlotte set up at Fairview Plaza.  With plenty of free parking and easy walkability, SouthPark Eats Alternative is the perfect lunch break option.

Lunch hours: Every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

SouthPark Grill
4300 Congress St.

We’re eyeing the shrimp louie salad or grain bowl with farro, all-white rotisserie chicken, baby kale, feta, red onion and lemon vinaigrette.

This is a popular SouthPark spot, so reservations during the week are recommended. Make yours online here. There’s also easy parking in the garage directly behind the restaurant.

Bricktop’s Restaurant (Specialty Shops SouthPark)
6401 Morrison Blvd.

A must. Reservations recommended (make them online here). Don’t miss the Palm Beach salad with crab meat, poached shrimp, remoulade, avocado, tomato and chopped egg. Scoop tip: easy parking.

WP Kitchen + Bar

While we’re big fans of the chopped salad, the sharable pizzas or the pan-seared salmon entrée would also make a perfect weekday lunch. This spot gets crowded, so consider using OpenTable to make your reservation.

Rooster’s Kitchen

Be on the lookout for the kitchen’s “bowl of the day” or opt for the classic spit-roasted Joyce Farms chicken. Make online reservations here.

A SouthPark staple, Harper’s offers a variety of American fare, from steaks and burgers grilled on live hickory to pizzas prepared in the kitchen’s imported wood-fired oven.

Sushi Guru
6601 Morrison Blvd.

This neighborhood go-to offers specialty rolls, platters, bento boxes and combination platters.

Lunch hours: Monday – Friday 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Village Tavern
4201 Congress St.

It’s hard to choose at this SouthPark staple, but the patio is always our pick. Favorites include the Thai chicken salad and the NC mountain trout. Village Tavern is another popular spot, consider making reservations on OpenTable.

The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar

Paco’s Tacos & Tequila

Head to Paco’s Tacos for a fiesta bowl (layers of cabbage, red rice, black beans, corn, pico de gallo, mixed cheese, avocado with sour cream, plus your choice of shrimp, chicken or brisket) or sharable fajitas.

Reservations aren’t required, but you can make them online if you’re the plan ahead type.
