Charlotte Dates by the Decade: The Summer 2019 Edition

The summer date in Charlotte is hot.

Flip your Havianas off and think a nude strappy sandal. Show off in a silk slip-dress. Leave the Bogg bag at the mudroom and grab the clutch.

The long winter is over and it is time to bask in the warmth of our city. Grab a date.

The 20s date

A raw bar with rooftop views? The Waterman Fish Bar brings it with Topside. Charlotte summer dates should always include oysters. Steamy.

Two of you and a Belmont Movie in the Park – handholding is practically a requirement. It’s called romance. Bring it back.

The 30s Date

Take me to the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Kiss me in-between the paintings. That’s all we want — modern love. And maybe something from the giftshop.

Bring your sexy conquistador to Barcelona for a sweet Spanish dessert. Olé!

THE QUARRY at Carrigan Farms

Play hooky and don’t feel guilty about it. Head to The Quarry on a Monday when its open swim most of the day. Stay until 3 then head back to reality before anyone notices you were missing.

The 40s date

How hot can you handle it? Le Cochon D’or cooking class followed by lunch is one of those dates that will test your skills.

Get your SUP on at Aloha Paddle Sports on Lake Norman. Be one with each other. Catch the feelings.

Step out in white on August 24th, 2019 for the return of the most anticipated party in Charlotte. Diner en Blanc makes all other August nights pale in comparison.

Nothing is made to be broken here. Goo Goo Dolls and Train bring back all the feels this July 12th at PNC Music Pavilion.

The 50s date

Arty weekend in the North Carolina mountains? Make plans now to attend the Penland Benefit Auction. Country roads included.

No drama with these llamas — they live alongside beautiful vineyards. Share a drive and some award winning wine at Divine Llama Vineyards. It’s the perfect blend.

Adult beverages, refreshments, and the opportunity to make a hand-cut linoleum stamp. All parties should be Art Parties at The Mint. Create something lasting.

It can’t be love-love right? Spend an afternoon practicing your serve at Blakeney Racquet & Swim Club.

The 60s date

July is the Sunflowers’ month. Venture down to the Draper Wildlife Management Area in SC to see its bold and beautiful smile. Peak is only 10 days — she’s worth the effort.

The Aviation Museum is the day date to talk about all things cockpit. All things hero. Meet Pilot Don Rush at his upcoming event. It’s Top Gun cuteness all over again.

Take your soul mate for a Jazz night at the Bechtler. Feel the rhythm all over again.

Who’s heart needs a little extra care? Take a drive out to Changing Hearts Rescue farm in Shelby. They show animals, and us, what lasting love feels like.

Now is the time to make all the reservations, before you change your mind and routines take over.

PS, age is just a number. Any date on this list is a date worth doing.
