The Spring 2018 Beauty Trends to Know About

Fashion Week 2018 celebrated diverse, natural beauty. Many of the trends seem to follow a pattern of less is more in some areas (skin) mixed with extravagance in others (eyes).  The good news is that many of the Spring 2018 beauty trends are easier to master than the perfect cat-eye or flawless contouring.  It’s all about testing the limits with fun eyes and lips but staying true to who you with natural foundation. We’ve been pinning looks we love for Spring 2018 on our pinterest beauty board and included a few highlights below.

This year it is all about self-expression, and you almost can’t go wrong. Have fun and express yourself.

A Natural Face:

Multiple Shades of Foundation

Fenty Beauty and Rihanna are revolutionizing how the makeup world looks at foundation.  Foundation should be as unique as we are, and with 40 shades of variety, you are sure to find the right one. More and more makeup companies are offering a larger variety of colors to create a more personalized look.

The End of Contouring

Oversculpted and over photoshopped faces are out. What’s in? More natural look with lighter shades of blush such as shimmering corals or soft pinks. Blush will become a focal point of your look.

Ultra Highlighted Skin is IN

Another focal point for the face will be an ultra shimmery luminous glow that will help take the natural look of the foundation to whole different level. It can be a hint of shimmer on the cheekbones or a full out ultra glow pending your taste.

Pure-Gold Highlighter

Rihanna took the world by storm when she introduced Trophy Wife a gold highlighter. Have fun with this yellowy-gold look that can be used all over your face- a full face highlighter, eyeshadow, or a spot highlighter.

The Eyes Have It:

While our faces may be light and airy, our eyes will speak volumes.  Glitter, bright colors, stark black eyeliner will give us all the glam.

Unusual Eyeliner

Unusual eyeliner is all the rage in 2018. Trace thick black lines around all of the eye or round off the ends on the wingtip.  Get creative and try new shapes and geometric dimensions to create this ultra-dramatic look.  Everything but the norm is in, so rejoice all ye’ who just cannot get that perfectly straight black line.

Upside Down Liner

Trace your bottom lash line with an angled brush and powdered eye shadow or use a pencil to create a more vivid line. This can be as daring or as subtle as you like, totally versatile for day or nighttime looks.

Bright Eyes

Bright eyes are fun this Spring- whether you go for a dramatic all over look or striking pigment in the inner corner of the eyes, this look will be sure to turn head.  Think of colors like bright blue, orange, bright pink, or gold.

Glitter

Sparkle and shine day or night with this trend making your eyes pop. Apply glitter on top of a neutral or bright shade pending how dramatic you want to go.

If bright colors or glitter are not a big enough statement for you, embellish eyes with rhinestones, gems, or sequins can add dramatic definition. Adhere using lash glue.

Thick Lashes

Throwback retro thick lashes also had to the dramatic look. This requires layers and thick mascara and strategically placing a few false lashes.

And The Lips ~ mostly natural, unless they’re not:

Lip Stains

Lip stains leave a color stain on the lips that naturally fades over time.  Lip stains stay on longer than regular lipsticks.  Top with some gloss or leave natural.

Metallic Lips

Shimmery, metallic hues are in all over the face- eyes, cheeks, and lips.  For lips, try a clear lipgloss and add a holographic shimmer on top or use a frosted or metallic lipstick below.
