Last year’s Greenery is now eclipsed by this blue-based purple – Ultra Violet; it’s both provocative and contemplative, pleasing the palette, invoking the mysteries of the muses of the future. Pantone Color Institute announced the 2018 color of the year as Ultra Violet because it connotes “originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking of what’s to come”.
Pantone’s color announcement is not solely for designers and the fashion-forward, but a reflection of what’s “truly needed in our world today,” Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute explains.
And with that, I began a quest to find this complex and contemplative, cosmic color around Charlotte. And while we shopped for Ultra Violet items in the QC stores and found a few starting to arrive, we also spotted lots of lilac and lavender tones that we thought were close enough!
First up Ultra Violet Beauty, as that seems to be the easiest to early adapt.
Butter London nail polish annually partners with Pantone on the color of the year and Ultra Violet is no exception. This year, a whole palette is available.
