There is just so much cheer around town this year. Even if you read our weekly Scoop To Do updates regularly, it’s hard to keep up. Worse, as soon as you decide to head out to one, you find out it’s already happened, while you were busy standing in the Target aisle trying to decide whether you should buy this $42 glittered pinecone wreath or start running around the neighborhood collecting pinecones to hot glue one of your own.

There are some events that go on all month long, perfect for last minute decisions to bundle up and head out for some Holiday Cheer IRL instead of watching it on TV. Here are our favorites:
Winter Wonderland Skating Rink at Southpark Mall.
2017’s newest Holiday attraction is at Symphony Park, in the parking lot behind SouthPark Mall/Dicks Sporting Goods,with a 5,000 square foot ice skating rink with holiday lights and décor + Santa’s Pub and coffee shop, live music, guests, activities and special events daily through Monday, January 8th.
Carowinds WINTERFEST Fantastic reports from this 1st ever park holiday transformation, open evenings from 12/15 through 12/30 (closed Christmas Eve & Christmas). Enjoy over 5 million shimmering lights, a 70-foot tree, live shows, strolling performers and up to 16 rides open.
Christmas at Billy Graham Library This is a celebration of the birth of Christ, with a live nativity, horse-drawn carriage rides, self-guided tours and even Christmas Dinner served daily at 5 and 7 pm (reservation required) Some programs are free, some require a fee.
