In fact, if there is one denim style for the Charlotte shop girl to buy to this year it is DISTRESSED. You don’t have to commit full on HISTRIONICS, just a little distress will do.
One buying tip we have for you….be careful of “at the knee distressing” as they will continue to tear every time you bend your knee. Above or below the knee is better. (also, be prepared, you will put your foot thru the distressed holes almost every time you put these on. You just will).
We are starting to see some embellishment work its way onto our local jean scene, like by the Driftwood brand carried at doll and some Joe’s at Copper Penny, but mostly you have to order those online. And we are happy to see that your basic solid blue washes are back and looking anything but basic these days. Popular brands like AG, Blank, and Rag & Bone are long time favorites around town, and new-with-an-old-s0ul Principle is making the scene from LA with well-priced, American made denim. Also out of LA are Level 99 and Articles of Society (great prices) that you can shop at Luxe Angel in Morrison.
The perfect pair of jeans is always a must have, but particularly in the colder months approaching. Pair your new denim with more denim or a chunky sweater, with booties, superga’s or heels, roll some big cuffs or work a little flare to take off 5 lbs.
