Aside from the fact that it makes practically anything taste better, there are a lot of compelling health reasons to make this spice a pantry staple.

Just a sprinkling of cinnamon in your morning coffee, on your toast, or over a bowl of oatmeal can:

Lower LDL cholesterol

Stabilize blood sugar and prevent diabetes

Curb food cravings and help to control the appetite

Prevent inflammation in the body (thus preventing some types of cancer)

Provide manganese (an antioxidant), dietary fiber, iron and calcium

Help to prevent gas (thus increasing your popularity level)

Improve brain function

I also like to add cinnamon to popcorn, tea, cereal, soups, quinoa, rice, smoothies, applesauce, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, and even roasted vegetables.
