With an eye on perfect end-of-summer sipping, Aria Tuscan Grill will host Thomas Pastuszak of Empire Estate wines on Wednesday, September 18. The Finger Lakes, NY, vintner will be guest-somming at the bar that evening, pouring by-the-glass ($10) from magnums of his 2017 Dry Riesling. Described as, “Dazzling silver-gold in color, on the nose there are intense mineral aromas of shale, gravel and limestone, combined with notes of white flower, golden apple, peach and lemon oil,” the vintage rated 91 points by Wine Enthusiast.
Pair it with selections from Aria’s $5 Bar Bites menu, available after 5 PM every Monday-Saturday at the bar.
The evening is one of Aria’s regular “Wine More Wednesdays,” when the restaurant offers small-producer wines poured by the glass from big bottles chosen by Aria Beverage Director Briana Cohen. Winemakers typically reserve their best wines and vintages for large-format bottles, where the thicker glass ensures they age more slowly and gracefully. It’s a special opportunity to experience unique, high-caliber wines by the glass.
