Charlotte Farmers Market Update

It’s just about that time of year ~ when we can stroll through vendors at local farmers markets for fresh and local produce, goods, flowers, and more. Area markets begin to open April 1st thru early May, a few are even open year round. We have the scoop on Spring 2023 farmers markets, from Lake Norman to Fort Mill and everywhere in between.

Charlotte Area Farmers Markets

Kings Drive Farmers Market (Simpson’s Produce)

Open: Opens in April 2023.

The roadside market that draws crowds all over the area opens for the season in April.  As you’re running errands in town or walking along the Greenway, stop at Kings Drive for produce, meat, local jams and all of your gardening needs.  Don’t be intimidated by the parking lots, you can usually get in and out fairly easily.

Uptown Farmers Market
300 S. Davidson St.

Opening details: Every Saturday, from April 15th to December 19th, 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. rain or shine.

Find locally grown, fresh food in the heart of the city. Don’t miss cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, live music, and more.

Plaza Midwood Farmers Market
2007 Commonwealth Ave.

Opening details: Every Saturday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., April 15 through November.

All vendors featured at the Plaza Midwood Farmers Market are small, local and organic producers delivering meat, eggs, honey and other produce each Saturday.  Stay tuned to their Facebook page for updates and specials.

Cotswold Farmers Market

Opening details: The 2023 market will begin in May, and will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

This season will feature local farmers, ranchers, food artisans, provisioners, and crafters.

North End Farmers’ Market
1701 North Graham St.

Opening details: Season begins April 5 and runs through October, every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Located in Camp North End, this late afternoon/ evening market provides all who visit local produce, proteins, artisanal food, and select crafters.

South End Market at Atherton
2000 South Blvd.

Opening details: Open year-round, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Stroll down Atherton in South End where you’ll find local small farmers and artisans gather to bring you fresh produce, meats, seafood, eggs, and a variety of dairy products. Also find garden and bath care products, all locally made.

Charlotte Regional Farmers Market
1801 Yorkmont Rd.

Opening details: Open year-round, Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Monday and Tuesday.

One of four state-operated farmer’s markets managed by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, this market boasts a friendly spot to purchase fresh produce, meats, cheeses, plus flowers and plants.

Rosa Parks Farmers Market
2020 Beatties Ford Rd.

Since 2016, the Rosa Parks Farmers Market has been offering locally-grown and seasonal fruits, honey, jams and jellies, baked goods, vegetables and more.

University City Farmers Market

Opening details: The 2023 season will run from April 29 through October 28, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Visit to shop for veggies and fruits, pasture-raised eggs and meats, artisanal food, and natural beauty care products. Also, enjoy live music from local bands and DJs as well as fun arts and crafts for the family.

Matthews Community Farmers’ Market

Opening details: Main season begins April 9 and runs through November 19, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Take in the beautiful sights and sounds of Spring at Matthews Community Farmers Market. By shopping at the market, you’ll be supporting your local farmers, as all produce and products come from within a 50-mile radius of the market. Visit here for a list of vendors available to pre-order.

Meet local vendors offering baked goods, crafts, produce and more inside the Carl McEwen Historic Village.

Waxhaw Farmers Market

Opening details: Every other Saturday beginning April 23, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Since 2001, Waxhaw Farmers Market has provided customers with fresh-from-the-farm goods. As a “growers-only” market, meaning vendors proudly grow and make all of their products locally, you can find fresh meats, eggs, artisan foods, native plants and flowers, and more. Union Market

Since 2002, Union Market has served the Waxhaw community fresh vegetables, fruits, prepared foods, honey and elderberry, breads, dairy products, pies, chickens and meats, jams, and more.

The Bulb Mobile Markets

The Bulb Mobile Market’s goal is to serve food-insecure neighborhoods in Charlotte and surrounding areas mostly local produce. Partnered with local farmers, backyard gardeners, chefs, credit unions, artists, and other non-profits, they are able to get fresh produce while allowing neighbors to choose how much they can afford per item. Everyone is welcome to shop at the market, though a $5 donation per family is suggested. Visit here for market sites.

The Springs Farm Stand
1010 Springfield Parkway, Fort Mill, SC

Opening details: Store hours are modified until April: Thursday-Sunday: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Wednesday, closed.

Known for their tree-ripened peaches since 1936, families can still stock up on the freshest fruits and vegetables at Springs Farm before indulging in homemade baked goods and ice cream. This year, the market is running on modified store hours until the arrival of strawberry season, estimated for April.

Fort Mill Farmer’s Market
106 N White St., Fort Mill, SC

Opening details: Opening day is May 13 and runs every Saturday through October 28, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Local produce, farm and agricultural products, and handmade items can all be found at this annual market in Fort Mill.

Huntersville Growers‘ Market

Opening details:  May – August, on Tuesdays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Novant Health, Huntersville and on Saturdays 8 a.m. – noon at Veterans Park at Main & Maxwell.

Since 1999, Huntersville Growers’ Market has been providing the area with locally grown food products. The weekly market is open May through August with lots of kid-friendly events and produce, flowers, and baked goods along with jewelry, plants, and crafts.

The Davidson Farmers Market

Opening details: April 1 through November, every Saturday from 9 a.m. – noon.

The 2023 season will feature a variety of different vendors selling fruits and vegetables, meat and dairy, fresh-baked bread, artisanal baked goods, health and beauty products, prepared foods, specialty culinary items, and beverages. Look forward to new vendors, new workshops, and lots of new musicians.

Gastonia Farmers Market

Opening details: Beginning April 1, open on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Expect 100% vendor-grown or made vegetables, fruit, home-baked goods, locally grown flowers and more. 

Piedmont Farmers’ Market
Winecoff School Rd, Downtown Concord, Harrisburg

Opening details: Winecoff Market is open year-round on Saturday mornings, 8 a.m. – noon, May through September. Visit here for Harrisburg and Downtown Concord market schedules.

With three different markets in the Cabarrus and Piedmont area, one open year-round, this farmers market gives you plenty of options when it comes to fresh, local product and goods.

Kannapolis Farmers Market

Opening details: Open Thursdays 4 – 7 p.m. from May through September.
