trends for spring to buy on sale now

Yes, we all know the sales are great times to buy classic pieces at deep discount, since you know you’ll be able to wear them again next winter.  But what about something to wear sooner - like spring 2010?  What are the fashion trends to keep in the back of your mind to make that purchase user-friendly?

photo credit bazaarNEUTRALS will be HUGE this spring.  Head - to - toe.  Camel, khaki, tan, cream, olive, natural leather.  Mix textures in the same or similar colors - leather, silk, satin, heavy cotton, cashmere, wool, nubby sweaters, wood.   Safari / Utility style still in.  Likewise the neutral shoe.  Buy whatever you see in a platform, strappy neutral heel.  Or anything with a wooden wedge or heel and a neutral leather upper.  And rope accents. what if uggs married their personal trainer?

anna sui fitflop bootEnter the love child called the FitFlop Anna Sui Shakoha Boot. Available at Net-a-porter and Intuition.com, designed by Anna Sui and featuring the supposedly slimming shape from FitFlop.  At $195, with a fair amount of style and the promise that just wearing them is slender-izing, they’re selling out whether they do or not.

winter trends tips you can use- from Ken Downing

Ya’ll missed a GREAT fashion show & commentary last Thurs pm at NM.  Seriously.  Fingers crossed that Ken Downing comes again, and that you are able to enjoy his delightful take on the trends.  Here are a few tips I picked up which we can all use (at least in theory):

Bare No More.  The “Covered” Leg is It. (more…)

clogs. stomp.

Sorry haters, but clogs are gonna be stomping around in our lives again.  Me, I love them.  For you who don’t, well, you’ve been warned.

vera-wang-boot-clogYou can thank Karl Lagerfeld for starting it at the Chanel spring ‘10 show.  I love Vera Wang’s Lavendar Label new Daisey clog, shown here, moto-boot style that looks oddly comfortable.  (clogs are comfort shoes, though, just ask the nurses). (more…)

The Likeness

Eerily similar.  Three pairs of studded black suede booties. And a $100 difference in price.  Take a look at the photo’s below and decide if it’s worth the extra $$.  (To me, in this case, it would be).  We’d love to know what you think, so please do post your comment(s).

the Charlotte Jeans Scene

JBrand "the Deal" skinny leg in oilslick $231It’s Denim.  I gather calling them jeans is as dated as calling it your purse or your pocketbook.  Denim is the hottest item in town these days.  Denim is practical and trendy at the same time - it goes with anything and it goes anywhere.  And if you cost average it on a per-wear basis, $200 jeans are a bargain.

Charlotte Gets The Boot.

ash-foldver-midlegEvery store in town has a great selection of boots this fall, so it just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.  This is the single best buy you can make to update your closet this fall and winter.  My favorites of the new styles at a variety of stores.  Move your cursor over the photos for store/brand/price info or click on the photos.
