Get Your Party On. On your Arm that is.

Stacking bracelets and adorning your wrist are a must do right now.  Bracelets have become the popular girl in the school of jewelry; bangles, beaded, or blinged out, anything is a go!  For you hard core arm partiers, adding a watch is completely acceptable protocol as well.  For a sophisticated arm party, pair up gold, silver and rose gold and pop with a white watch.  For the more youthful at heart, try a funky freindship bracelet and a studded wrist wrap.  The best part about arm parties is most of us already have the foundation in our accessories wardrobe.

Target is overflowing with a great assortment of arm candy and at an extremely affordable price!  Here are some of my favorite candidates.  (more…)

D-I-Y Neon color blocking

Ashley4EmergyI am not a D-I-Y’er.  My one and only DIY project involved a newly-wedded bathroom renovation that ended in tears (me) and beers (he) among the Mexican saltillo tiles.  But DIY-ing is HUGE in fashion, home, bridal and beyond, and some brave new soul is always thinking up a way to take a trend and do it far cheaper herself.  Here’s a fun one we spied recently involving neon paint and platform wedges.

Arlene Goldstein is Belk’s VP of Trend Merchandising and Fashion Direction.  It’s her job to sift through each season’s onslaught of style and trend information, and the decide what will work best for Belk’s Modern Southern Style. Charlotte’s fashion press recently gathered at Belk for a review by Arlene of what we can expect this fall, and how Belk is interpreting the trends.  Here’s what we learned: (more…)

The skinny on Jorts, Jor-jeggings and Jweats.

racked.com's photo of jor-jeggingsIf we actually see you in any of these, we will have to disown you.  Still, inquiring minds want to know.

JORTS. Actually, these are just jean shorts.  Experiencing quite the renaissance this summer.  Fine for any girl under 40 and under 140 lbs. in our view.  Not fine at all for any hetero-man, any woman over 50 and any of you carrying some junk in the trunk.

JOR-JEGGINGS.  Jorts + Jeggings.  So, faux denim leggings that are short.  Here’s what our friends at racked.com wrote about this appalling idea: “Imagine bike shorts. Now change the fabric from spandex to a stretchy cotton with a trompe l’oeil jean pattern. Now wear them to brunch.”

JWEATS. Kid you not.  Loose, sweatpant style jeans.  Jeans + sweats.  These are a legit fashion alternative, unlike the massively unappealing Pajama Jeans.  (read what our girl Lolais40.com has to say about the PJJs).   Alexander Wang and Rag and Bone showed Jweats for spring/summer 2011.  Diesel calls theirs “Jogg Jeans” and sells them for $195.  J. Brand has apparently also jumped on the jweat wagon.  We have only seen them in the blog-o-sphere, so they may be mythical.
