Harajuku Mini for Target SPRING

Maybe you know about this, but we just found a new spring collection at Target online from Gwen Stephanie’s Harajuku Mini for kids and babies.  Most of the new pieces are only available online, but a few can theoretically be found in stores.  Cute stuff.  Photo’s below – click to see the full pic.

Harajuku Lovers Mini for Target- UPDATE

 Update: 11/15/11.
Shopped this collection at the Blakeney Target, where they sometimes have a good selection on the fashion-y stuff and sometimes don’t even know where it is. Found Harajuku set on 2-3 racks off to the side in both girls and baby girls. Have to say I have a mixed reaction to this now that I see it in person. The tee-shirts and several items are adorable, and it did look like either lots had sold out or not much had been displayed. Lukewarm on several pieces in each category – cute looking but of course, poor quality and kinda chinchy. So, there you have it.

posted 11/9/11.
Forget Missoni for Target.  So, so last month.  The covet du jour is sure to be the new Harajuku Mini for Target, designed by Gwen Stephani and due in stores this Sunday. IN STORE ONLY.  not available online as we (and the Target press dept) erroneously stated earlier.  Sorry!  I kid you not – I will be squeezing into one of the tee shirts and snapping up a purse.  I just wish I could fit into the We Heart Nerds slip ons.  lots of pics here.

Giambattista Valli for Macy’s now in store

Stopped by Macy’s South Park to check out the newest Impulse designer collaboration by Macy’s.  The Giambattista Valli is  at macys.com and is in store right next to the Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse (now on sale) and the Rachel Roy (the RR navy sequin shift is ka-yute).  The look of the pieces from a distance is fabulous.  It’s the fabric up-close that I don’t much like – but even so, lots of holiday style for not a lot of jack.  Very very festive, frilly, and sparkly.  For some reason, the uber-polyester-ness of the fabrics disappointed me.  But if you can deal with it, the look is adorable.  Just don’t dance too close to the flames dears. Karl Lagerfeld for Macy’s Impulse now big time on sale.

I like this collection. It seems practical, classic, tailored, chic.   Nothing to write home about in terms of wow! factor, but these pieces look like you will pull them out again and again – for as long as they hold up.  It may have been a bit pricey initially, for the quality. But not now, since it’s been marked down more than 40% off at Macy’s.

Gwen Stephanie’s Harajuku Mini for Target is back in November

From a Bulls Eye View at Target

Inspired by the playful style found in Japan’s trendy Harajuku district, the collection is Target’s newest design collaboration and Gwen’s most extensive children’s and baby collection to date.  Gwen, a long time designer and fan of Japanese street-style (she even has an entourage of back-up dancers she calls her “Harajuku Girls”), pairs bright colors, prints and patterns with cheeky animals and characters. Cute overload.

From edgy jackets, dresses and onesies to perky headbands, punk-y shoes and backpacks, there are more than 80 pieces in the line. Ranging from $4 to $30, the entire collection will be in stores November 13. So maybe we can’t fit into the clothes… but don’t be surprised if you see us rocking one of the petite purses or heading to the airport with the colorful carry-on in tow.

Albertus Swanepoel Hats Now at Target

You may have never heard of him, and there’s a good chance you won’t be able to spell or pronounce his name correctly.  That shouldn’t stop you from snapping up one of his winter hats for Target.  South African born Albertus Swanepoel is one of the top milliners in the fashion industry, and has designed some pretty nifty toppers for the design collaboration machine that is Target.    The 14 hats are each priced at $19.99 and will be available Oct. 30 through Dec. 22, 2011 at all Target stores and Target.com. The collection includes fedoras, cloches and floppies in solid felt, printed felt and faux fur – with the exception of some pretty cheesy looking faux blooms on one hat, they look like a lot of style for twenty bucks.  Slide show below.
