The two most defining trends of the Golden Globes last night were: Blush shades ruled the Red Carpet. The fairest peach, the faintest pinks, creamy pale taupes and lilac were seen on almost every other celebrity beauty. Blondes, brunettes, and redheads alike. With makeup and skin in matching pale shades or in complementary sun-kissed golds. It worked spectacularly well on many stars; it was just overdone.
And the other – the mermaid dress. Fish tails were everywhere sashaying and swishing down the Red Carpet. I don’t like this style enough to see more than one or two versions per event – and I really got way more SPLASH than I wanted last night. Plus, it is such an overdone bridal style, I’m sick of it before I even tune in.
Pics Here. The most impressive and lovely choices last night in my book? Claire Danes in J.Mendel hands down. Jessica Alba, Charlize Theron and Kate Beckinsale for the best versions of the Blushing Shades Over Trending Trend. Diane Argon in Giles Deacon’s red laser cut lace, particularly the neckline. Rooney Mara, Viola Davis and Jodie Foster for the most purely pretty versions of themselves. Reese Witherspoon and Elle MacPherson for their hair if not their décolletage. And Angelina Jolie for Brad Pitt. (as always, click on the pic to see it full size).
