Shorts are BIG for this summer and yet, so, well,…….short.  Those of you who can dare wear short shorts, daisy dukes bikinis on top and all that, you have many options to chose from.  Jean shorts are the THING this summer so be sure to grab a pair of those but really, if you can go short, the possibilities are endless.

Scoopcharlotte did a little shopping research for the rest of us who need a more forgiving length.  Here’s the short scoop:

First, everyone’s old reliable JCrew short, the classic Bermuda, is now on sale in many colors for only $29.99.  While you are there, check out the classic gingham short short in dark pink and white.    And if the basics are what you are looking for in shorts this summer, look no further than Ann Taylor LOFT.  A huge selection of affordable shorts in several unassuming styles and colors.

However, this is really a shorts summer, so consider stepping up and stepping out a bit.

SLOAN has by far the widest selection of styles and options in shorts.  Really a fab selection for almost any age and any size.  Casual, dressy, loose, long, cuffed, you name it.
Sloan carries some of the summer’s best shorts by Sanctuary. They carry 3 styles:  a short drawstring waist version in flax for $86, a longer cuffed  style for $68 in tan (like the one in the photo) and a loose, wider legged  linen short with a soft, foldover waist in blush or white for $60.  You should also look for Level 99′s at Sloan, which have a buttoned cuff you can let out for more length.

Nordstrom and LAEast also carry Sanctuary Shorts and have a good selection of the longer style shown in the photo.

Anthropologie has a few good options, but they are a little hard to find.  Look for the long, knee-length jean short by Adriano Goldschmied for $139 or the adorable shorter shorts by Hei Hei in Dark Red Ikat print for $68.

Chez Elle carries a killer Hard Tail casual summer short and pant – linen-cotton, loose, easy.  In Olive or White for $75.  Plus a drawstring waist cropped knee length version, same colors, $72.

And my absolute FAVORITE shorts were a dressy style called Piper at Kate Spade. Cuffed, wide leg, long enough in a go-anywhere dark wash jean or white cotton ottoman.  $198.
