You’re invited to the new DFS Charlotte Boutique and Career Transformation Center Open House on Saturday, March 20 from 1-4 pm.  It’s at 500-A Clanton Rd between S. Tryon and I77.  Details below.

Dress for Success is just one of those efforts that always hits it out of the park and their new facility on Clanton Road is no exception.  The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing them professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life.  It’s a wonderful mission, led here in Charlotte by the wonderful Kerry Barr O’Connor and some truly wonderful ladies.

I know a lot of you shop-a-holics- have CLOSETS and ATTICS full of clothes you’d love nothing more than to donate.  But here’s the thing:   DFS is over-run with the smaller sizes.  They really can’t take any more size 0, 2, 4, 6, 8’s.   At least not for now.  And this is not a good place for well-worn, or years’ past, clothing.  Not even your best Chanel from the 80s.  (Although call me, we’ll talk).  This is where women “suit up” for job interviews in today’s competitive workplace.  They come to DFS to be professionally outfitted in current and classy styles.

So, what does the new Charlotte Beyond the Boutique need from us, the savvy Charlotte shopper?  Almost new shoes, accessories, costume jewelry.  Cash and more cash donations.  And professional, stylish clothing in the larger sizes.  If you have this to give, please call and see if you can help.
