Charlotte Gets The Boot.

ash-foldver-midlegEvery store in town has a great selection of boots this fall, so it just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.  This is the single best buy you can make to update your closet this fall and winter.  My favorites of the new styles at a variety of stores.  Move your cursor over the photos for store/brand/price info or click on the photos.

Nordstrom: Good selection of Frye, Lucky Brand and Juicy. Lots of Ugg too, although this is done, done & done.  For affordable high style, check out the ASH fold-over boots, the Steve Maddens, the Dolce Vita.  And for the true stylista, Nordstom carries the Elizabeth & James Reese Shoe Boot. There are even a couple of sale racks on boots, mostly black, mostly classic styles.  And Nordy’s has a spectacular online boot selection.

Belk: Has a great and widely varied boot selection.  Worth a visit.  In the “americana” boots, Jessica Simpson, many Frye styles and Lucky Brand.  Classic styles from Stuart Weitzman, Donald Pliner, Kelsi Dagger.   For a ladylike take on the trends, see Belk’s Coach Motorcycle Zip boot. Also shoetie’s from BCBG and Maxstudio.  For the younger set, Ed Hardy, Rampage, Ugg.

Neimans: Even NM carries Frye these days. And the best Tory Burch and Prada boots in town.
The hottest trendy boots at relatively reasonable prices are at Intermix, especially the Jeffrey Campbell $285 tall engineer boot.  They’ve already sold out once and have been re-ordered.  And the fold-over platform wedge boot from Vera Wang is the perfect low boot for skirts, tights, leggings, tucked jeans.

Urban Outfitters has a lowpriced, trendy selection in store and even more online.  See the entire Urban Outfitters Boot collection here.

Bob Ellis can order any boot you find on their website (here) for you, but you can see the high-end trends right now in store.  The frye/americana style interpreted here is Alberto Fermani.  And of course, Bob Ellis has Louboutin and Zanotti plus a half dozen boot styles by Stuart Weitzman.  And the Sawyer style from Tory Burch.

Monkees of Morrocroft carries the affordable Nicole brand but they’re almost sold out of the studded suede with wedge heel.  They have an elegant folded riding boot by Frye and two new Tory Burch styles.  The best boot in the store is a shoetie by Donald Pliner in a bronzebrown suede with bronze metallic trim at $445.  And a Pliner brown croc skin, shades of Luchese.

Via Venetto in Phillips Place also carries a selection of Frye and Donald Pliner and one gorgeous-capital-G riding boot by Zanotti.  But the most unique boots at this store are brightly embroidered boots from Turkey.  Not cheap at $595 but you just have to smile when you see them.  Or wear them.

Step by Sloan on East Blvd in Dilworth always has great prices on current fashion and the boots this year are no exception.  This was the only store in town where I found the wellie moto-style boots all the stylists are talking up.  My favorite at Step, just for sheer perverse practicality, is the Michael Kors Zipper convertible boot.  step-kors-zipper-boot-595 Shown here in black, it has working zippers which let you go from ankle to mid to knee to high boots, all in one.
